Yabushige’s death poem 😂😂>>>>
He knew he had picked the wrong side (going with Ishido) and knew he was likely dead. His only hope was jumping on Anjin's ship and sailing to England but that quickly turned out to not be an option.
The spooky thing about siding with Toranaga is that the only guaranteed winner is Toranaga. He sacrifices both Mariko and Hiromatsu for the cause. And when Nagakado dies for the cause he doesn't hesitate for a second to abuse the mourning period to win
Yabushige says cracking one's head on a stone, like Toronaga's son, is a bad death; worse than being boiled alive (the way he killed Blackthorne's shipmate) but better than being eaten by dogs (as per his death poem)
Oh lord , I still love Yabushige yall !
That death poem is fire 🔥

here is my death poem...." don't bury me leave me on the field for a hungry dog"... "my best poem yet" -Yabushige
😆😆 #SHOGUN将軍
I’d put him and Mariko 1A and 1B - really not a bad performance from anyone in the cast. Yabushige can write one hell of a death poem
Yabushige's death poem sure was something #Shogun #ShogunFinale
Yabushige’s death poem:
My dead body
Don't burn it, don't bury it just leave it in the field
And with it, fill the belly of some hungry dog
It’s a good poem #Shogun
Yabu was such a great character and the actor that played him did a great job making him sympathethic. Slimy, cruel and selfish but he had the best comedic moments. His death poem killed me. "When I'm dead, just throw me in the trash." - Frank Reynolds - Yabushige #ShogunFX
It wasn't unique to Yabu. We have Omi randomly decapitating people, and in the book, Naga kills Jozen by feeding him to dogs, Toranaga has Ishido buried to his neck and invites people to take turns sawing at his neck with a blunt saw, where he takes 3 days to die . Clavell, probably influenced by his own experience and also with some historical truth, gave his Sengoku-era Japanese this element of sadistic cruelty almost as a mundane fact of life. And boiling people alive was a thing of the period; look up the story of the execution of Goemon Ishikawa.
The story frames it kind of like a journey Blackthorne takes, first thinking he has encountered violent primitive barbarians, then eventually having this Stockholmian realisation that his people are the barbaric ones. Finding the poetry in this violent, ritualistic, death-obsessed culture.
idk man, Yabushige’s death poem was kinda mid 💀
